Youth Cultral Event.

Tawny had the amazing opportunity to participate in the once-in-a-lifetime event Saturday. She got to dance in the Youth Cultural Celebration preceding the Twin Falls Temple dedication. They started practicing together as a stake each Wednesday night in May. They practiced once a week until the last couple weeks when they had two practices and some with all 14 stakes. They preformed at the Filer Fair Grounds. President Monson, President Eyring, Elder Cook and Elder Costa attended the Saturday Night performance. President Monson spoke to the youth before their performance. He admonished them to always pray about the decisions they made. He said DECISIONS DETERMINE DESTINY - and had the audience repeat that. He also told them to respect and obey their parents, and do good in school and enjoy it. He then pronounced a blessing on them. We were very proud of Tawny.

Rich's Presentation

Val and I were able to come to Salt Lake to sit in on Rich's PhD defense. Two weeks ago he submitted his 150 pg dissertation to a committee who gets up to speed on his research. Then he presents the research that he has been working on for the past SEVERAL years to the committee (which consists of several professors), and anyone else who is interested in the research he did. At the end of his presentation anyone can ask questions. Then the public is dismissed and the committee start asking questions. At this point Rich had to defend his knowledge and prove to the committee that he knows what he is talking about. It was a very interesting process that I was glad I got to witness. He passed with flying colors and one committee member offered his a job to work in the summers during his break from medical school. I am very proud of Rich and the accomplishment he has made. He has worked long and hard for this!!!
